Mary was born in Seoul, South Korea, and she immigrated to New York City when she was nine years old. After completing undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, Mary went on to receive a master’s degree in mathematics education from Columbia University. She also held a master’s degree in divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary.
Mary began her teaching career in New Jersey, spending a number of years at the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack. She and her husband moved to Washington State in 2002, where she taught mathematics at Interlake. She received numerous honors during her career, including the Edyth May Sliffe Award for excellence in mathematics teaching in 2007.
Sadly, Mary passed away on September 29, 2015. She was 46 years old.
