David, 41, was a major in the Washington Air National Guard. His unit, the 141st Air Refueling Wing, was based at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane. He died on January 13, 1999 when a plane he was piloting crashed near Geilenkirchen Air Base in Germany. David, along with three other airmen who died in the crash, posthumously received the Air Force’s Meritorious Service Medal for service to his country.
