Dr. Brent Johnson earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine at Iowa State, and then returned to his native home in the Pacific Northwest to share his passion for medicine and his love for animals. He eventually became the owner of Northwest Animal Care Hospital in Everett (which he built from the ground up in 2003), where he served his community for many years, focusing on preventative medicine and owner education for small animals, birds, and exotics.
Brent did not technically graduate from Interlake, he graduated from Sammamish in 1986. But he spent his sophomore and junior years at Interlake, where he was known for being a standout IHS basketball player.
Sadly, Brent passed away on April 25, 2026, when he collapsed in the middle of a Saturday morning basketball game. He was 58 years old. Although his friends and family would be the first to point out, at least he left this world doing what he loved: Hooping. As Brent himself was fond of saying, “Basketball is life!”
Although Brent’s death brings great sadness to his family and friends, we have faith that Brent has returned to his Father in Heaven and we look forward to the day when we shall all be reunited together with them.
His obituary can be found here.
