Bob grew up in Bothell, WA, the son of Lowell and Evelyn Haynes along with his siblings, Allen, Steve and Sue. He was surrounded by a large, loving extended family that enjoyed camping on Orcas Island, boating in the San Juan Islands, and Bothell Fourth of July parades. His father owned a Union 76 station which led to his love of classic cars. Bob excelled in football, basketball, and baseball which was encouraged and nurtured by his grandfather, Harold “Pop” Keeney.
After graduating from Bothell High in 1965, he attended Washington State University and majored in Physical Education. He taught PE and math and coached football, basketball, and baseball for 33 years in the Bellevue School District - primarily at Chinook Middle, Ringdall Middle, Interlake, and Bellevue High Schools.
Bob married Kathy (Tudor) who he met while attending WSU. They celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage. Their first home was in Bellevue. Their daughter, Heidi, was born in 1979 and in 1984, they moved to Woodinville. In 2007, they welcomed their son-in-law, Dan Morris, followed by their granddaughters, Siena & Audrey. Bob was a very proud grandpa who enjoyed attending dance recitals, volleyball, soccer, basketball, track, and swimming.
Bob loved golfing, hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. He also enjoyed attending Husky football games, planning high school reunions and their annual golf tournaments. In the summer, he and Kathy enjoyed spending time at their home on Lopez Island, where they entertained family and friends.
Bob was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, coach, and friend. He passed away peacefully at home on May 22, 2026 after being diagnosed in February with leukemia. He was 79 years old.
