Robert Joseph Lycan

Robert Lycan taught English in the Bellevue School District for over thirty years. Most of his time was spent at Bellewood Elementary, Sammamish, and Newport (where he was also the head softball coach), but he also taught at Interlake off and on throughout the 80s and early 90s.

After retiring from the Bellevue School District, he continued to teach. Only this time at Bellevue College, and at various local businesses. He also ran a tutoring service and a business learning company out of his house. Overall, he spent thirty-four years as a teacher, and twenty-eight years as a coach.

Outside of school, Robert was an athlete. He played baseball professionally at one point. He loved playing softball, coaching, and umpiring. He also loved to travel. He was well known for taking high school students to Europe, and for traveling extensively with his family. But above all else, he was happiest when he was teaching.

After a long life well-lived, Robert Lycan passed away on September 7, 2022, at the age of 86. He was a wonderful husband, father, and educator, and he will be missed.

His obituary can be found here.
