Susan "Sue" Hurlbut

It is with deep sadness that the family of Sue Heydon, aka Sue Hurlbut, announces her passing on March 10, 2025, at the age of 68 after a brief period with cancer.

Sue was born on April 4, 1956, in Seattle, Washington, to Charleen and Fred Hurlbut. She grew up in Bellevue with her three siblings - Cathie, Nancy, and John - and graduated from Interlake in 1974. She later attended Washington State University, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She was a proud loyal alumna and remained close with her treasured WSU friends.

On January 5, 1979, Sue married Rich Heydon of Spokane, and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. They made their home in Federal Way, where they formed lifelong friendships that brought laughter, adventure, and joy into their lives.

Sue devoted much of her life to raising and supporting her family. She cherished reminiscing about happy memories, spending time at the beach with her sister, skiing with friends, and never missed an opportunity to celebrate with friends and family.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, Rich; their children, Christine (Jake), Laura (Jason), and Jill (Brian); and her four beloved grandchildren, Emily, Adam, Maxwell, and Robin. She will be deeply missed by them, as well as her siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Sadly, Sue is not the only member of her family on the IHS Memorial Wall. Her sister Cathie passed away in 2014.

Her obituary can be found here.
